10 on your side's rico bush is in newport news. rico, how are roads and sidewalks looking there? tips for driving in the snow from aaa: accelerate and decelerate slowly. applying the gas slowly to accelerate is the best method for regaining traction and avoiding skids. take time to slow down for a stoplight. drive slowly. everything takes longer on snow- covered roads. accelerating, stopping, turning - nothing happens as quickly as on dry pavement. give yourself time to maneuver by driving slowly. the normal dry pavement following distance of three to four seconds should be increased to eight to ten seconds. this increased margin of safety will provide the longer distance needed if you have to stop. know the pedal-it's normal for the pedal to vibrate a bit when the abs is

a fire that spanned four buildings destroyed homes and affected 30 families this holiday weekend. 60 firefighters in norfolk fought freezing conditions to battle the flames in ocean view. investigators say it could be weeks or months before they determine how it started. only chopper 10 was above the charred remains, still smoking early sunday morning. the red cross helped more than two dozen families find another place to live and new clothes to wear. 10 on your side spoke to a man who ran towards the fire, as crews went door to door. nathaniel raider says he saw the smoke billowing out of a condo. he ran to the building and told people to leave. then he went next door to another structure as the fire spread to another building. he told us he tried to make sure everyone

including 5 children. firefighters arrived saturday night on tee box lane to find a fire in the garage. no one was hurt. the people who lived inside are staying with relatives. investigators believe a discarded cigarette is to blame. developing this morning, supreme court justice antonin scalia's body is in virginia. a county judge in texas said he died of natural causes. the judge went on to say an autopsy would not be necessary. someone found justice scalia dead inside his room at a west texas resort early saturday morning. early this morning his casket arrived from el paso to dulles. a private plane took off for virginia last night. president barack obama says he'll appoint a new supreme court justice, "in due time." looking at his previous appointments to the high court, it took the president about a month to nominate justices elena kagen and sonia sotomayor. here's a look at some of the potential nominees mentioned in legal circles.
